Group Classes
We host weekly classes in and around Boston, utilizing local public spaces such as parks and public transit hubs to work on training in real-world environments.
Below is a list of some of the classes we offer. To view our complete list of currently available classes.
Please note: With the exception of Social Puppy 101, all dogs attending group classes must have a 1:1 lesson and be approved by a member of the training team before signing up.

Practice in the Park (PitP)
Practice in the Park (PitP) is a cornerstone of the BFTD training model and is designed for dogs over one year old. This class takes your training into the real world, allowing you to practice around distractions and discover new and fun ways to engage with your dog. You and your dog will have the opportunity to work on your skills in a controlled environment, surrounded by other dogs and people at different training levels.

CGC Prep Class and AKC Tests
CGC, CGCA, CGCU, Tricks
Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Prep Class
CGC prep and testing is highly encouraged for all dogs at BFTD, and this class is designed to prepare your dogs for successful testing. The CGC is a 10-skill training program and test open to all dogs (purebred and mixed) that focuses on teaching the basics of good manners and obedience, instilling the values of responsible ownership, and strengthening the bond between you and your dogs at home and in the community.
American Kennel Club (AKC) Testing
In addition to the CGC Prep Class, we offer testing times for BFTD dogs on our class schedule! In addition to the CGC, we also test for the CGCA (advanced test), the CGCU (for dogs in urban settings), and all levels of AKC Trick Dog testing.
For dogs who want to take the AKC trick tests, this can be done in person or virtually. Please reach out to training@boston for the dogs to request information on how to submit a video for virtual trick testing.
